Maintenance of New Homes

Within the first year of being built, new homes often need small repairs which are known as defects.

What is a defect?

A defect is a fault or a repair that occurs usually during the first 12 months from handover. This is known as the defects liability period. This starts when your home is handed over by the builder to Inquilab and not from when you move into the property.

The type of defects you may need repairing include:

  • Faulty window or door locks
  • Leaking pipes
  • Faulty electrics

If your property contained white goods when you moved in (such as cooker, fridge or freezer) and these are faulty, please refer to the manufacturer’s warranty.
