We want to let you know about the different housing options available to you.
These include:
Mutual Exchange:
If you want a change of scenery or need to move to be closer to family in another part of London or even the other side of the Country, you can exchange your home with another tenant of Inquilab, or with a tenant from another housing association or local council. This is called a 'mutual exchange'. First of all you must obtain written approval from both landlords, as it is illegal to exchange without permission.
If you want to arrange your own exchange, contact your Local Authority Housing Office or any Housing Associations which may have suitable properties in the area you wish to move to.
Inquilab Housing Association is a member of the choice-based lettings scheme known as Locata. You can register for a mutual exchange on the Locata website by clicking on the following link: http://www.locata.org
As long as you don't have rent arrears and your home is suitable for the people you wish to exchange with, we will normally agree to a mutual exchange.
For more information about mutual exchanges please contact your Tenancy / Property Services Officer
Shared Ownership:
If you would like to get on the property ladder but can't buy a suitable home outright, you may wish to consider shared ownership. This is a part buy / part rent scheme that allows you to buy your home gradually and achieve your first step onto the housing ladder.
The scheme allows you to buy from as little as 25% or as much as 75% of your home depending on what you are able to afford. You will pay rent on the remainder of the share that you have not bought. You can then continue to purchase further shares until you own your home completely.
Inquilab works closely with other housing associations to provide Shared Ownership Homes. For further details please contact our Housing Services Team on 020 8843 1263 or email enquiries@inquilabha.org
