Help Us Develop Local Offers

On 3rd June 2010, 22 residents took part in a consultation meeting in our boardroom on . The workshop was delivered by an external facilitator, Manjeet Johal in order to get independent views of the services residents receive from the association. Residents at the workshop were provided with information about the Tenants Service Authority (TSA), our current regulator.

Overall feedback of the meeting was positive with residents welcoming the opportunity to be consulted "it was really good fun", "it was good to meet and listen to other tenants'  but also a bit sceptical with comments such as "they do this and nothing goes any further", "let's wait and see what next". There was also some optimism that there is a new director "he seems to be moving things on".

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along to the meeting. The Director of Housing, Masood Hussain is leading on the TSA work including setting-up a Joint Area Residents Panel. The purpose of the group will be to monitor the new 6 national TSA standards which all registered providers need to meet. These include:

  • How residents should be involved in shaping service

  • The quality of homes provided by the landlord

  • The landlords role in improving neighbourhood & community

  • How landlords should make sure their services are good value for money

  • How much rent landlords are allowed to charge

  • How they should make sure their homes are reliable

In addition, the association proposes to work with the new group to develop 'local offers' to sit alongside the TSA National Standards. These local offers will need to come in effect from 1st April 2011 thus we need to start talking to and involving all our residents in developing a set of local offers.
